4th of July

When I got back from the concert on Saturday night, I started to make our nursery class chocolate dipped marshmallows for their 4th of July treat. I love sending them home with little treats! It's also really good bribing material. ; )

Wednesday, July 3rd we got to go to dinner with the Sevy Family. Spencer's dad invited us to go to Rib Tickler with the gang. It was so fun having Spencer's brother, Jake and his wife and kids in town from Destin, Florida!

We ran to the grocery store the morning of the 4th of July for some ingredients to make some 4th of July treats. I found these crazy flowers and had to have them. I know they are super cheesy, but that's ok for this holiday!!

Here are some of the desserts I made:

Cookie Crumble Pie (Red, White and Blue Style):
  • 1 1/4 cups Keebler Chips Deluxe
  • 1 package (8oz.) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tub (8 oz.) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 bag of M&Ms
  • 1 pre-made graham pie crust
  • Red, white and blue sprinkles
1. Chop cookies. Set aside. I also went through my bag of M&Ms and picked out red and blue M&Ms since I couldn't find any red, white and blue cookies. I threw a few M&Ms into the pile of chopped up cookies

2. In a small mixing bowl beat cream cheese on medium speed with mixer until fluffy. Add sugar and lemon juice. Beat until combined. Fold in cookies and whipped topping.

3. Spread in crust.

4. Refrigerate at least 3 hours or until set.

5. Garnish with sprinkles.

I wasn't really sure how the pie was going to taste but I was seriously surprised! It was probably my favorite dessert of the day. It was pretty light and I loved the crunch of the cookies inside the pie. I even made a second one a couple of days after with the leftover ingredients I had.

The dessert table!

And a traditional American meal!!

This pretty much sums up mine and Spencer's family. I love them all!!!

The Sevy's left to go get fireworks and they went back to their house. Spence and my family watched the Patriot and head over to the Sevy's house for fireworks and games afterwards.

Love these silly girls!

It was a great 4th of July! Thanks for following!
