Ingrid

Thursday May 3rd Spencer and I got to go to downtown Houston to the House of Blues for an Ingrid Michaelson concert. I've come to realize that a lot of people don't know who Ingrid is. I'm here to tell you that you DO! You have heard her music, I promise. Though I'm shocked to say that my mom hadn't ever heard her most famous song The Way I Am, but my dad had! haha...Here it is for all of you clueless people. ; )

The concert was freaking awesome but it was 3 hours of standing REALLY close to people that you might not normally stand that close to, or ANYBODY. Let's just say the personal space barrier didn't exist. That's fine at first, then after an hour, or two hours, or even the third hour it's hot, smelly, sweaty, sticky, and your body is aching for some movement. Not going to lie though, it was awesome being so close to the stage! Just remember to dress in comfortable, airy clothes. Fortunately I went prepared.

The concert started with a band called Scars on 45. They are a little band from England. They were really good and I wouldn't mind purchasing their cd! Here they are on Amazon

Ingrid Michaelson was so cute! I just love her more now than I did before!

I accidentally had my finger over the flash.

haha...this shows a little bit of her personality. She does improv to Golden Girls on the piano:

Another popular one:

I recorded this song but I found a clearer video on Youtube from the same night. haha..I Love her!

I have SOOOO many more videos! This will not be the last concert we go to of her's! Hope you go download all of her music now! : )

Easter

April 2012

Look who came to our house for Easter!! : )

In the Kunkel family it's tradition that the Easter bunny hides our baskets so we have to find them on Easter morning before church. So the tradition carries on in our family little family. Spencer had a hard time finding his basket in the dryer. I had to play the hot and cold game with him. ; )

March

March 31, 2012
WOW...I'm SO behind! Sooo much has happened in the last month or so! On March 31st the family spent the day with Grandma Kunkel for her birthday. She wanted to go out to Freeport for lunch and to hang out on the beach. She hadn't been down there since the bad hurricane a few years ago. We wanted to look for the beach house we would spend our summers in. We drove past it about 3 or 4 times and didn't recognize it. The only way we actually confirmed that it was our beach house was by the address. It's crazy how much I actually remember about the summers we spent there at that house. So many good memories. I hope we can create memories like that for our children.

Here are some pictures from the day! I got 2 lenses just a couple of days before so I got to play around with them. My favorite lens is my fish eye/wide angle lens!! I didn't spend much money on it because I figured it would be super cheesy and not very realistic. I seriously fell in love with it on our beach trip! Eventually I'll spend money on a nicer one.

It was the PERFECT day! In the 70s, mostly sunny, and breezy.

Unfortunately, Spence wasn't able to spend the day with us. Gotta love school!

Trying to get a good shot of my grandma's new red hat. My Aunt gave it to her for her birthday.

Then we went back to her house and had a sugar free cake I made to celebrate her birthday. I just used a sugar free cake mix and found a sugar free icing recipe online.

Ingredients

  • 1 (1.4 ounce) package sugar-free instant pudding mix
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 (8 ounce) container lite frozen whipped topping, thawed

  • In a medium bowl, combine pudding mix and milk. Mix well and let stand until thickened. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add pudding and mix well. Finally, fold in whipped topping.

The icing was actually really good! I would rather just eat it with a spoon by itself though. If you want to thicken it up a bit so it doesn't melt off the cake you can use a little more pudding mix. Then I topped the cake with sugar free heath candy. YUMMY. ALL sugar free! :)

I'm so lame!! Here are some St. Patrick's Day pics!

WAYYYYY MORE stuff coming!! : )
