March Madness

In March we were oh so lucky to get to go visit Spencer's brother and his family in Ft. Walton, FL. We have been so fortunate to get to spend multiple weeks in Destin/Fort Walton beach throughout the last few years. My sister and her husband lived in Ft. Walton for three years, and for their last year of living in there, Spencer's brother and his family moved to Ft. Walton. So all in all we've been able to visit Florida at least once every year, for the last 5 years. It has been AWESOME. : ) : ) : )

My niece, Kathryn's baptism was also that weekend. So we thought we would drive up and surprise the whole family. By the time we got there I think everyone knew we were there besides Kathryn and Porter (the youngest). Obviously our families aren't GREAT as surprises!! lol

Family pictures outside of the church after the baptism.

Precious pictures! I love his miniature helmet!

The next day was Sunday. We went to church, went home and napped, ate lunch, then relaxed on the beach for an hour or so.

One of my favorite pictures from the day...

Porting wearing Uncle Spencer's glasses:

The following day was Monday, and our last full day in Florida. Since the kids had to head off to school, Spence and I had a beach day. It was seriously the best day of the trip! We hiked down the beach until we were secluded. We felt like we were on our own little private beach. Just thinking about how great the day was makes me want to go back NOW! I could seriously live on the beach all day, every day. It's my own little piece of heaven on earth.

That night we went to Tijuana Flats for dinner. The table next to us was full of a bunch of college kids on their spring break. One of the male employees that worked there went to their table and asked if they wanted to complete one of the hot sauce challenges. Naturally Spencer and I shouted from across the room that Spencer would do it. He is the food challenge master. Like seriously. The night before our wedding, the guys had a great idea to go to Buffalo Wild Wings and do the hotwing challenge. The following morning, after Spencer showed up late to the temple, his brother slipped him a bottle of pepto bismol as we are sitting in the temple right before our sealing. I had no clue what they had done that night before. Later, I found out about the wings, ghost peppers, and the late night toilet visitations. HA! He has done many food challenges since then- more wing challenges (which he had to sign a waiver for because they had to call an ambulance multiple times for others who had attempted the wing challenge), chicken fried steak, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, pie eating contest, a strawberry eating contest at a fair in Texas (which he was in the newspaper for). And I fully expect the challenges to continue!!

Signing the waiver...

After completing the hot sauce challenge like a champ! ...a couple of the guys at the other table who tried the challenge actually cried. Kind of funny.

We left early Tuesday morning for our 10 hour drive home. It was a perfect trip to Florida!!

These are pictures from the Thursday night dinner at my Grandma's. The these was the rodeo. It was so fun with the ponies and the little petting zoo out front.

Later in March we celebrated my Grandma Kunkel's 85th birthday!! When we first arrived  at the hospital she seemed kind of down. She didn't really crack a smile and wasn't very talkative. Once my Mom pulled out the Orange Leaf yogurt she had brought in a cooler for Grandma she FINALLY cracked a smile and her entire mood changed! Thank goodness for sugary treats! ; )

It was a really great day! My family brought her bbq, with coleslaw and lots of other yummy food so she didn't have to eat hospital food on her birthday.

I really miss this sweet little lady!!
