San Fran

Towards the end of May we planned a little getaway for our 3 year anniversary. I can't believe it has been over three years now! Time seriously flies when you are having fun and FUN is exactly what we have been having!

The first day we were there we learned about the fog. We had no idea that during many parts of the day it would be nearly impossible to see the bridge.

We got to drive this fun thing around for a few days!

I spoke with someone who lives in San Francisco and they told me a great spot to go to get a good view of the bridge (Conzelman Rd.). This is the view of the bridge we got in the fog...ha ha

Gorgeous view!!

Here you can see parts of the bridge:

We shopped around the city, visited Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf and then headed to our hotel near Berkeley.

Boudin sourdough bread=the best!

Anniversary dinner at a nice Italian Restaurant in Concord near our hotel.

Our tradition:

Day 2 started off as a missed trip to Alcatraz. We underestimated how long it would take us to drive back in to the city. Coming from Concord we have to go through a toll and over a bridge. Sitting in that traffic took about 30 minutes. Needless to say we missed the boat by a couple of minutes. We were able to find someone on the streets selling them. He walked us a about 15 blocks away where we purchased our tickets in a legit shop. We were a little hesitant at first!

We had some time to eat lunch and walk around Fisherman's Wharf before our boat left to Alcatraz.

Then we headed out to Alcatraz.

The really private showers...

The audio tour was really awesome! Lots of cool stories!

I look like a crazy!!

The library

The audio tour told us a story of how a few guys broke of out of the prison. This is a picture of one of the fake heads they made and put them in their beds to look like they were still in bed sleeping. It would buy them more time for their escape.

Here is the hole they chiseled out in their cell wall. They escaped through that!

After Alcatraz we took a visit to Lombard Street. It was pretty crowded. It's crazy how many people go just to see a street!

The way back to our hotel that night in Concord we drove through Berkeley and stopped and ate at an Asian restaurant.

Day 3 we packed up and left our hotel in Concord. We were going to stay at a sweet hotel down in the city for the rest of our stay there in San Francisco. It was so nice to be so much closer to everything!

On our way out we stopped at Berkeley and walked around campus for a bit. It was graduation so there were a good amount of people still up on campus.

Sather Gate

After Berkeley we stopped by the Oakland temple.

We went into the visitor's center also. We talked to the sister missionaries for a bit and saw a really cool video.

Then we finally made it back to the city and did some sight seeing.

The Painted Ladies
A couple of them were being repainted. The fog was so thick here, it felt like it was raining!

The Full House house!

Then we did some Chinatown shopping.

Then we headed to the other side of the bridge for some pictures.

So pretty!!! It was so cold and windy though!! After checking in to our hotel near Union Square we headed to Bob's Donuts because we were told we HAD to go there!

Our hotel-The Fairmont

Our last day in San Francisco we headed to Sausalito. We took a bus from Sausalito to Muirwoods.

Sausalito is so cute and quaint. I could live there!!

We stopped at a beach on the way to Sausalito. We couldn't believe people were actually out swimming in that water. It was freezing!!

I was amazed at how reverent it really is inside of the park.

After Muirwoods we headed back to the city.

Then headed to Ghirardelli Square where is was PACKED! So many people! We got our chocolate and an ice cream sundae and got the heck out of there!

That night we found a Brazilian steakhouse near our hotel and went for dinner. It was definitely delicious!

San Francisco was such a fun trip!! We were ready to go back the minute we landed back home in Houston. Such a pretty city and so much to do!! Thanks for treatin' us well San Fran! Until next time...because there will definitely be a next time! : )
