Saturday morning we researched a few Everglades tours and found one that was decent priced, with just enough time out on the airboat (not too short, but not too long), and it had awesome ratings. So we drove to the gas station where the website told us to meet them at. We had just missed the earlier tour (like we did with the snorkeling excursion), so we waited around until the 1p.m. tour. It worked out perfectly because we were able to go grab some lunch while we waited.
We all carpooled over to the place where are airboats were. They split our group into two--one for each boat. I was glad we got the boat we did because our boat had a cover over parts of it. We didn't want to burn out there!
The lady who we followed to the Everglades took our picture she said, "Say Gator bait!" and snapped the shot. Apparently there are horror stories about the Everglades tours.
Right after our captain started up our boat and we were off! Seriously, this was one of the coolest things! I didn't realize these boats could go as fast as they did!
So beautiful!
Looking for gators...
The first alligator we saw was on my side of the boat but I didn't get a picture because it swam by so fast. The rest of the gators were either in front of the boat or on the other side. Close enough for me though!!
Our Captain said whenever we see alligators around this area it means they are hungry and hunting for food, otherwise they are far away sleeping. That made me feel great since my seat was practically hanging off the side of the boat. AWESOME.
There are two! They are hard to spot.
Another one!
Coming towards the boat...
He also pulled out his phone and showed us a picture of an alligator from a few weeks back that bad jumped out of the water to catch a bird. It was pretty crazy! I didn't realize alligators could jump that high. Again, it freaked me out to be sitting in the chair hanging off the side of the boat, but it made for good pictures! ; )
The picture he showed us pretty much looked like this:
Our captain was really awesome! He told us some pretty cool stories. I got a few of them on video.
Such an awesome excursion!! So glad we went! Then we headed back to the hotel and changed into our swimsuits. We wanted to spend a few hours on the beach since it was our last full day in Florida.
Our hotel right over the bridge...
Collecting more cool stuff!
On Sunday morning we woke up and went to enjoy the pool one more time before we had to leave to come back home. It was actually pretty packed! After the pool we showered, packed and headed to the airport. Sad day!! We were definitely not ready to be home. The week went by so fast!
We arrived home Sunday night and Spencer's parents were there to pick us up. Fortunately, that Monday was Memorial Day and we both had the day off work. Sometimes you just need a vacation after your vacation! It was nice to have a day to relax after two trips in a row. It was a great spontaneous 2nd anniversary trip. I can't believe it's already been to years! That's what happens when you stay busy with school and work and you are constantly filling your "free" time with fun things. I love my man and I love the time we are able to spend together. Life is good, we are so blessed. Thanks for following!
