Sprinkle Cake

My Mom's birthday was at the end of July, so for her birthday I made her a sprinkle cake. I loved the look of the sprinkles with the dark chocolate icing...so much fun! Partayyyy!!
For the filling I made a salted caramel icing. The combination of the salted caramel and the dark chocolate cake is just the perfect combo! This has easily become one of my go to cakes. :)

July 2014

July in the Sevy household:

My 4th of July project with Mason Jars:

Star shaped watermelon:

Red, white, and blue Rice Krispies:

My mother-in-law's creation: Cherry pie cooked inside a white cake.

Such a fun holiday! I love coming up with red, white, and blue desserts! The week after 4th of July we headed to Austin. We stayed up there for the weekend. We can always find fun things to do in Austin!

We went up Friday night and met my sister and brother at Magnolia Cafe for dinner. (since the other places we wanted to go were already closed.)

We stayed at the W hotel in downtown Austin:

The following morning we tried to get into Hamilton Pools, but if you don't show up at 8 a.m. you better be prepared to wait in line (in your car) for an hour or longer. They only allow a certain amount of people in at a time. We showed up just after 8. So we drove around until we found somewhere else to explore. We ended up at Krause Springs. It was actually pretty fun with really pretty scenery. We left after a couple of hours because it started to get really crowded.

Headed to Gordough's because our trip is never complete without at least when stop there!

Our second night in Austin we stayed at the Renaissance Hotel:

It's always a great trip to Austin!! Until next time!

June 2014

Wow....I can't believe I'm just posting for June!! June was a fun month for us. We got to go to Utah to see family that I hadn't seen in almost 7 years!! Yeah, a little ridiculous! I also got to meet some of Spencer's side of the family that lives up in Utah as well. It was only a 5 day trip, so like all of our short trips, we pack as much as we can into the time we have!

We got to Utah Thursday afternoon. My Grandma Wagner was turning 80 so all of her 5 daughters and 3 step daughters, and 3 step sons flew in to surprise her! She knew a couple were coming (because most of them visit in the summer every year) but she didn't know they were all going to be there on the same week to celebrate her birthday with her. It was a lot of fun to say the least!!

Grandma Wagner knew my family was coming, so when we got there we went inside to say hi, then immediately made some excuse to leave the house and walked down her block to a neighbors house were all of the family was going to meet up for the grand surprise!

Cousins-waiting for the rest of the family to arrive...

Waiting for her to open the door...

My favorite picture. Love her reaction!!!

The rest of the family was able to come in Friday and Saturday.

On Friday we got to go to Seven Peaks.

Lunch at JDawgs before heading to the water park:

Jaxon with Grandpa

So sweet...

For dinner that night we all met up at Grandma's favorite Chinese Buffet:

Pretty much sums up how you feel at a Chinese buffet....and you still keep eating...

On Saturday we headed to Temple Square.

On the roof of the Conference Center:

When we got back to the house everybody was over prepping for dinner. We ate dinner, played games, and had fun writing cute notes to our Grandma with sidewalk chalk out on her driveway!

All the kids!

Grandkids-still missing a bunch of them

Photobombed! One of my favorite pictures...

The lady is 80!!

On Sunday we all went to my Grandma's church. Then after church Spence and I headed to his Uncle Dale's house were we had lunch and got to chat with the family. Afterwards we went to his Grandma Sevy's house. It was fun to get to meet her and talk with her for a while.

Visit the cemetery where Grandpa Sevy is buried.

Afterwards we went to visit his Aunt Judy and talked with her and the family for a bit. It was a blast getting to know the Sevy side of the family!!

Later Sunday night we met back up with my family went to visit my Grandpa Wagner:

Monday morning (our last day in Utah) Spence and I head to Bridal Veil:

Visiting the Provo Temple:

Got ourselves some Cafe Rio and did some shopping:

Later we hit up the Purple Turtle for shakes:

Then later we got to head to my cousins' dance recital:

And Slab Pizza afterwards:

It was such a fun trip to Utah! We loved staying up late every night playing games and eating yummy foods with everybody. So grateful to have such an awesome family and to have married in to one as well!! ; )
